RENEGADE ROLLERGIRLS SHAKE IT UP WITH BOND-THEME DANCE PARTY
WHAT: The Renegade Rollergirls, Oregons’s only No-Rules Roller Derby league, will host its debut fundraising event on May 31, 2007.
“Shaken & Stirred,” a James Bond-theme dance party, kicks off at 8 p.m. at the historic Midtown Rock & Rink in downtown Bend. The Renegades will showcase their taste for the outrageous with events like pillow fighting and pudding wrestling. Partygoers clad in Bond-inspired outfits can enter the costume contest featuring prizes donated by the league’s sponsors. Guests who are new to Roller Derby can watch video clips packed with no holds barred, no rules, roller derby action.
“The Renegade Rollergirls have had an incredible first season, and the support from the Bend community has been amazing. At this party we can have some fun with our fans and introduce ourselves and the sport to the public,” said Melanie Mahoney, league vice president.
The Renegade Rollergirls are midway into an inaugural season highlighted by sellout crowds and big wins. The league’s four teams have dominated in bouts from Bend to Las Vegas, and the Wicked Pussycats team was recently honored as the 2006 Inaugural Season Champions. Tickets for the adult-only event are $10.00 each and proceeds will go to the league’s “General Survival” fund.
WHEN: May 31, 2007. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the party will end at midnight. Tickets are available at Oxygen Tattoo and Midtown Rock Roll & Rink.
WHERE: Midtown Rock Roll & Rink, 51 NW Greenwood, Bend, Oregon USA
ABOUT: The Renegade Rollergirls are an eclectic group of ambitious, rough and tumble women spanning age, economic and racial boundaries while fostering our unified goal of entertaining Bend with extreme roller derby athletics. The Renegade Rollergirls teams Radar Lovers, Skull Rollers and Wicked Pussycats, played to sell out crowds in their 2006 inaugural season and turned away over 250 spectators each bout. The bouts are played at the Central Oregon Indoor Sports Center located at Empire and High Desert Lane.
Our Renegade predecessors in Arizona formed their league in the summer of 2004 from a group of the top skaters in Arizona. The league prides itself on high ethical procedures, organizational structure, and all-around skater well being. Along with the Arizona league and a second sister league in San Diego, we wish to pursue the same goals and visions of reviving the sport of roller derby. Anytime, any place, any surface. No holds barred, the Renegade Style of Roller Derby.
